Catalogue Note
The mother-goddess figure, all hips and breasts with a schematic face, recurs across the early Near East from Anatolia to Iran. This is a substantial example of the type: the arms pierced at the shoulders, the torso marked with incised lines, and the lower body swelling out into two great curves.
At two kilograms it is heavy for its size and sits firmly on its stand.
