Catalogue Note
The pillar figure — a head and torso rising from a plain column — was a household image across the Levant and Syria. This one is narrow and tall, the headdress studded with round bosses and the hair falling in beaded locks at either side of the face.
Its pink and red colouring is unlike anything else in the collection.
