Catalogue Note
Frontal, symmetrical and composed, this is the most classical of the bearded heads: the hair parted in the middle and falling in waves to the jaw, the beard dense and curled, the eyes open and level. In its type it recalls the bearded gods of the Greek world, carried east.
The finish is pale overall, a warm buff-grey, which sets it apart from the darker heads in the group.
